Honorary Members PDF Print E-mail

Honorary Membership is one of the highest honors that the Palestine Academy for Science and Technology can bestow upon a person.

Any fellow of the Academy may nominate one person (m/v):

  • who has rendered acknowledged eminent service to the fields of Science and Technolog.
  • who is a member of a body similar to the Academy and/or other scientific bodies.
  • whose nationality is other than Palestinian, including Palestinians in the Diaspora.
Candidates for Honorary Membership nomination may be recommended in writing from January to March of each calendar year. Letters should be accompanied by a nomination form, including a one-page biography of the nominee, specific reasons for nomination (maximum one page) and any other supporting material that you feel would be helpful in the selection procedure. In April, the Science Council will then review the candidates based on the material submitted and recommend three candidates to the President of the Academy who will grant the Honorary Membership. The Academy seeks a selection of Honorary Members who represent a variety of fields and regions all over the world.  Not more than three Honorary Memberships can be granted in any calendar year.

An Honorary Member shall be entitled to:

  • Free membership for life.
  • All Academy mailings.
  • Inclusion of their organization’s web page in the Academy website.
  • And any other benefits so decided by the Academy.

All Honorary Members will also receive a Certificate by mail.

Honorary Members are encouraged to be active participants in the life of the Palestine Academy, and to apply their experience, weight and relations toward advancing the Academy’s role and efforts in Science and Technology both nationally and internationally and toward facilitating networking and cooperation between the Academy and foreign institutions active in the field of S&T.
